Independent National Committee believes our nation's politics need to evolve to accommodate the growing number of Independent voters in the 21st century, now the largest voting bloc in the USA.
Despite being #1, Independents are said to "lean" left or right so they are not unified enough to be taken seriously as a collective group of voters. But if one also examines Democrats and Republicans, they too have a wide spectrum of conservative, moderate & more liberal voters within their ranks. They do not allow this to stop them from unifying as a collective group and neither should Independents.
Since the 19th century, there has been a duopoly of Republicans and Democrats when it comes to choices in our national politics. The Independents have always been expected to choose between one or the other when Election Day comes around. This allows us to be disregarded and undervalued by political candidates until the final days of their campaigns. If an Independent happens to qualify as a candidate, they are accused of taking away votes from the Democrat or Republican establishment, rather than adding to our democracy.
Independent National Committee's mission, put simply, is to galvanize the Independent voter base into a collective force that competes as an equal alongside Democrats & Republicans. We believe uniting as Independents and having a stronger collective voice will create a better system of checks and balances in American politics. We believe it's possible to be collective in our action without being uniform in our thought which is why we invite ALL Independents to be a part of this empowering movement regardless of which way one "leans" (or doesn't!)
